My name is Madison Darbyshire and I am a journalist from outside New York city.  That will always be home.

For the moment, I am back in New York.

This site is a roadmap, a record of where I’ve been and the stories I’ve collected along the way. The hope is that will continue to grow, filling up with faces, places, and recipes from all over the world.

I am so glad to be able to share with you all, and I hope to see you out there on the road.

Food is an essential part of how I experience a place.  I want to taste everything.  I'm a terrible kitchen snoop.  The first thing I do in someone else's house (honestly I don't even notice I'm doing it- it's embarrassing) is throw open all their cabinets and inspect what they have.

It is fascinating to see how food habits are different from place to place, family to family, and culture to culture.  There is nothing I love more than learning a recipe from someone and listening to their stories while they cook.

In 2015, I followed my hunger to cooking school at Le Cordon Bleu in Paris.  Now, armed with slightly more butter than usual, I am back exploring, writing, and eating my way around the world.
